Screenshot Sensitive Area Cleanup (AI LaMa)

Paint over emails, phone numbers, chats, or logins in UI screenshots and get natural interface fill instead of black rectangles. A modern AI editor for demos, bug reports, and documentation.

Cleaning sensitive areas on screenshots
Scenario

Thin mask only along the contact line. Capture the button/panel background around it so LaMa matches the UI texture.

For privacy protection in your own screenshots, demos, and documentation. Do not use to hide evidence of wrongdoing.

Drag a UI screenshot here

Paint over email, phone, chat, or login in the UI. Instead of a black rectangle, you get a natural fill of the interface.

Ready - open a screenshot with sensitive data

Instructions

  • Upload a screenshot of the interface with an email, phone number, chat, or login field.
  • Choose a scenario: contact line, chat, or login form.
  • Zoom in and paint only the sensitive text, leaving nearby buttons and panels as context.
  • Click "Mask area" and LaMa will restore the UI background under the mask.
  • Check at zoom and save the PNG for a report, demo, or docs.

Natural editing instead of black bars

Black rectangles on screenshots look crude and distracting in presentations. Screenshot Sensitive Area Cleanup uses AI LaMa inpainting: you draw a mask over an email, phone number, or messages, and the model matches the color of the panel, button, or chat bubble.

When this is appropriate

  • Bug reports and tickets without leaking PII.
  • Marketing UI demos without real logins.
  • Product documentation with anonymized screenshots.

What this is not

Don't confuse it with image-pixelate-sensitive-data (pixelation) or erase-fill-anonymizer (complete removal of a face or document from a photo). This is targeted text editing within an interface while preserving the UI's appearance.

Tips

Capture a bit of the panel background around the line so the fill looks more natural. For long chats, work in segments. Use only for lawful privacy protection.

Frequently asked questions

Why not just a black rectangle?
Black or white blocks look crude in UI guides and demos. Erase and fill restores the surrounding interface (panel background, list, chat), so the screenshot looks more natural after removing an email, phone number, or login.
Is it suitable for hiding evidence in an investigation?
No. Use it to protect privacy in your own screenshots, demos, and documentation. Do not use the tool to hide evidence of wrongdoing. If the result is not perfect on the first try, refine the mask while zoomed in and repeat with a short pass.
Small text in a table or code
Zooming in is a must. Mask only the sensitive cells or rows; leave the surrounding UI as context for LaMa. If the result is not perfect on the first try, refine the mask while zoomed in and repeat with a short pass.
Which image formats are supported?
PNG, JPEG, WebP, and other formats the browser can open are accepted as input (usually BMP and GIF as well). The result is always saved as PNG to avoid re-compressing with JPEG after retouching and to preserve the edges after inpainting without extra compression artifacts.
Where is my image processed and is it stored?
You draw the mask locally in your browser. Inpainting (the LaMa neural network or classic OpenCV) runs on the filltools.com server only to process your request. The file is not published in a gallery and is not meant to be shown to other users after the session ends; do not upload unnecessary personal data without need.
How is LaMa different from blurring or an eraser?
Blurring and pixelation only hide an area with a gray or pixelated patch. LaMa (Large Mask Inpainting) analyzes neighboring pixels and synthesizes a plausible background such as sky, wall, fabric, or paper so the edge looks more natural. For small edits, the fast OpenCV Telea or Navier-Stokes option in the method list is sometimes enough.
How should I draw the mask for a cleaner result?
Cover the target completely, with a small margin around the edge (1 to 3 pixels), especially if there is a semi-transparent halo. Several precise passes are better than one huge mask. Always use zoom for small details; Hand (H) pans the frame, and the B and E keys switch between brush and eraser.
Can I undo a mistaken step?
Yes. The Undo and Redo buttons keep a history of the mask and results (roughly up to 20 steps in the current browser session). Reset mask clears only the red markings on the canvas; Reset fully returns the tool to a state with no uploaded image.
