Watermark Remover (AI LaMa)

Remove semi-transparent watermarks, stock logos, or © marks from photos with the LaMa neural network. Brush over the mark and the tool restores the background, returning a clean PNG.

Watermark removal
Scenario

Cover the semi-transparent text completely, slightly capturing the clean background around it - LaMa will match the texture better.

Drag a photo here or click "Open"

Choose a scenario (watermark / logo / corner), paint over the mark and click "Remove mark". Default is LaMa.

Ready - open a photo with a watermark

Instructions

  • Upload a PNG, JPEG, or WebP with a watermark (up to ~20 MB).
  • Choose a scenario: semi-transparent watermark, dense logo, or corner ©.
  • Use the brush to completely cover the mark, including semi-transparent edges. Zoom in if needed.
  • Keep the LaMa method for high-quality background restoration (the alternative is fast OpenCV).
  • Click "Remove mark", check the result, and save the PNG. Repeat for other marks on the same frame.

Why you need a dedicated AI service for watermarks

Stock previews, screenshots with ©, semi-transparent URLs, and corner logos ruin a shot before publishing, presenting, or adding to a catalog. Classic blurring leaves a gray smudge; manual cloning takes time. The modern approach is inpainting: a neural network analyzes nearby pixels and reconstructs the background under the mark.

Watermark removal from photos on filltools.com runs on the LaMa model (Large Mask Inpainting). You just brush over the watermark and the algorithm restores sky, wall, table, or fabric texture so the edge looks natural. The result is a clean PNG without the overlaid mark.

What you can remove

  • Semi-transparent text watermarks and URLs in the center of the frame.
  • Stock logos (Shutterstock-style and similar previews).
  • Corner © marks, agency credits, and small brand tags.
  • Repeated watermarks, either in one pass or with multiple iterations.

How to use

  1. Open the photo. Drag the file into the workspace or click "Open".
  2. Choose a scenario. Watermark / logo / corner © adjust the brush size and mask radius.
  3. Brush over the mark. Cover the entire semi-transparent area; zoom in to help with small © marks.
  4. Run LaMa. Click "Remove mark" and wait for the processing pulse.
  5. Save the PNG. Repeat if needed for another mark on the same image.

Who this is for

Content and marketing. Prepare a shot for a presentation or social media without a distracting logo.

Design and layout. Clean up a reference or mockup before applying your own branding.

Archive and personal photos. Remove an outdated camera or website credit from a family photo.

Tips for a clean result

Brush semi-transparent text with a small margin: the mask should cover the "tail" of transparency. For a large logo, it's better to remove it in parts. If the background is complex (leaves, grid), stick with LaMa; for a tiny corner symbol, OpenCV Telea is sometimes enough.

This service removes watermarks. If you need to add protection instead, use the separate watermark-adding tool on the site.

Frequently asked questions

How is LaMa different from blurring or the "eraser"?
Blurring and pixelation only hide an area with a gray or pixelated patch. LaMa (Large Mask Inpainting) analyzes neighboring pixels and synthesizes a plausible background (sky, wall, fabric, paper) so that the edge looks more natural. For small edits, the fast OpenCV Telea or Navier-Stokes option in the method list is sometimes enough.
Can I remove several watermarks from one photo?
Yes. After the first pass, paint over the next mark and click "Remove mark" again. For a dense stock logo, the "Logo" scenario and working in segments is more convenient; for a corner ©, use zoom and the "Corner ©" scenario.
Which image formats are supported?
PNG, JPEG, WebP, and other formats that the browser can open (usually also BMP and GIF) work as input. The result is always saved as PNG to avoid re-compressing with JPEG after retouching and to preserve the edges after inpainting without extra compression artifacts.
Where is my image processed, and is it stored?
You draw the mask locally in the browser. Inpainting (the LaMa neural network or classic OpenCV) runs on the filltools.com server only to process your request. The file is not published in the gallery and is not intended to be shown to other users after the session ends; do not upload unnecessary personal data without need.
What should I do if a watermark "halo" remains after removal?
Extend the mask a few pixels beyond the edge of the semi-transparency, zoom in, and repeat. Semi-transparent text often has an alpha "tail" that also needs to be covered. If the background is very complex (leaves, a grid), keep the LaMa method and do shorter passes.
Is it allowed to remove watermarks from other people's stock photos?
The tool is technical. Use it only on images you have the rights to, or within what the law permits (your own shots, licensed content, material with explicit permission). Removing protection from stock without a license may infringe the rights holder's rights.
How should I draw the mask so the result is cleaner?
Cover the target completely, with a small margin along the edge (1 to 3 pixels), especially if there is a semi-transparent halo. Several precise passes are better than one huge mask. Be sure to use zoom for small details; "Hand" (H) pans the frame, and the B/E keys switch between brush and eraser. For a semi-transparent center of the frame, paint densely over the whole inscription, not just the "bright" letters.
Can I undo a mistaken step?
Yes. The "Undo" and "Redo" buttons keep a history of the mask and results (roughly up to 20 steps in the current browser session). "Reset mask" clears only the red marking on the canvas; "Reset" fully returns the tool to the state with no image loaded.
