AI Image Upscaler (Real-ESRGAN)

Upscale photos 2× or 4× without blurry pixels. Quality mode uses server-side Real-ESRGAN; Fast mode runs AI in your browser. Limits: 3 MB; 2× up to 1500×1500; 4× up to 800×800.

Image

2×: max 1500×1500 px. HQ may take up to 3 min, please wait for it to finish.

PNG, JPG or WebP · up to 3 MB

Select an image to start

The Quality mode sends the file to the server for processing only; Fast works entirely in the browser.

Instructions

  • Upload a PNG, JPEG, or WebP file up to 3 MB.
  • Choose the scale: 2× for input up to 1500×1500 px; 4× for input up to 800×800 px.
  • Keep Quality (server) mode for the best result or choose Fast (browser) for instant local processing.
  • In Quality mode, processing can take up to 3 minutes. Wait for it to finish and don't close the tab.
  • Click "Download" to save the result. Click "Clear" to start with a new file.

Sharper images without the usual stretching

Regular image enlargement in a graphics editor or with simple apps just stretches existing pixels. As a result, you get jagged edges (pixelation), overall blur, and blocky squares along object boundaries. This tool works on a completely different principle: a neural network analyzes the image context and literally predicts details when scaling 2× or 4×.

Thanks to a specially trained neural network, lines stay sharp, small text becomes readable again, and natural textures (skin, hair, fabric, wood) get realistic detail instead of blurry patches.

Two modes: choose between quality and speed

We built a hybrid processing system so you can pick the best balance between speed and final detail for your task:

1. Quality mode (server-side AI)

This mode uses the full-size Real-ESRGAN neural network (the realesrgan-x4plus model for 4× and a separate native 2× model) running on the server. These are professional-grade algorithms for digital restoration, preparing graphics for print, and Retina display layouts.

  • Maximum detail: the model can recover small elements lost to compression.
  • JPEG artifact suppression: the neural network reduces noise and compression artifacts before and during upscaling.
  • Server-side processing: the file is processed briefly and deleted immediately without archiving.
  • Wait time: HQ can take up to 3 minutes, especially for 4×. Don't close the tab while it's running.

2. Fast mode (browser AI)

A lightweight ESRGAN Slim (TensorFlow.js) runs right in your browser. The image is processed using your device's resources.

  • 100% privacy: the file never leaves your device.
  • Instant results: handy for previews and small illustrations.
  • No server compute limits: all the load is on your device.

Input file limits

  • Formats: PNG, JPEG, WebP.
  • File size: up to 3 MB.
  • 2× scale: input no larger than 1500×1500 px.
  • 4× scale: input no larger than 800×800 px (4× on larger frames takes too long and strains the server).
  • Larger images are already detailed enough for screens; for those, it's better to crop the frame or choose 2× / Fast mode.

Who this tool is for and what it helps with

  • Designers and front-end developers: a low-resolution logo or illustration can be upscaled 2×/4× before using it on a banner, business card, or poster.
  • SMM and content creators: a screenshot or frame is too small for Stories or a cover image.
  • Online stores: sharper product photos in the catalog.
  • Home archives: old digital photos look fresher on modern monitors.
  • UI/UX: icons and graphics for HiDPI / Retina without redrawing vectors.

Tips for the best result

  • Stay within the limits: 3 MB; 2× ≤ 1500×1500; 4× ≤ 800×800.
  • A single pass gives the best result; upscaling again creates a plastic look.
  • For transparency, logos, and screenshots use PNG; for photos use JPEG or WebP.
  • A very blurry original won't reveal details that weren't there.
  • If HQ is busy or the file is large, choose Fast mode or 2× instead of 4×.
  • In Quality mode, allow for wait time in advance (up to 3 min).

Security and privacy

In Fast mode, files never leave the browser. In Quality mode, the image goes to the server only for temporary Real-ESRGAN processing. After the result is delivered, both the input and output files are permanently deleted.

Frequently asked questions

What formats and limits are there?
PNG, JPEG, WebP. File up to 3 MB. For 2x, up to 1500x1500 px; for 4x, up to 800x800 px.
Why is the limit smaller for 4x?
4x creates four times as many pixels and takes longer to process on the server. The 800x800 limit keeps processing time reasonable and prevents overloading the server.
How long does the Quality mode take?
Up to 3 minutes. A waiting message will appear on the screen, so don't close the tab.
Is 2x processed the same way as 4x?
No. For 2x, a separate native 2x model is used, without an extra 4x pass.
What's the difference between Quality and Fast?
Quality uses server-side Real-ESRGAN. Fast uses a lightweight AI in the browser without sending the file to the server.
Are files stored on the server?
In Fast mode, no. In Quality mode, the file is processed temporarily and deleted after the response.
