Remove Date and Time from Photos Online (AI LaMa)

Erase the date/time stamp from the corner of old digital photos. Paint over the corner with a brush and the LaMa neural network will match the sky, wall, or background to nearby pixels.

Remove date from photo
Preset

Zoom ×2–4 into the corner of the frame. Cover the entire date line, including the shadow of the digits.

Drag a photo with a date stamp here

Zoom into the corner with the stamp, paint over the date/time and click "Remove date". LaMa will restore the background.

Ready: open a photo with a date stamp

Instructions

  • Upload an old digital photo with a date/time stamp in the corner.
  • Click "+" on the zoom panel or scroll the mouse wheel over the corner with the stamp.
  • Choose a preset (corner / orange LCD / small) and paint over the digits.
  • Click "Remove date" and LaMa will restore the background under the stamp.
  • Save the PNG. If fragments of digits remain, repeat with a narrower brush.

Повний опис

The date stamp is no longer "forever"

The orange and white timestamps from soap-bar digital cameras of the 2000s often ruin family archives, photo scans, or social media shots. Cropping the corner means losing the composition. Blurring leaves a smudge. Removing the date and time from photos with LaMa paints over just the stamp and matches the sky, wall, grass, or asphalt to nearby pixels.

What this service is for

  • Digitized family albums without the extra "12/08/2004 14:32".
  • Publishing retro shots on social media and in presentations.
  • Preparing photos for a photobook or frame without technical clutter in the corner.

How to work with the corner of the frame

Be sure to use zoom: the stamp is small, and the nearby background matters for quality inpainting. The "Orange LCD" preset suits the classic digit color; "Small" is for when the date almost blends into the background.

Cover not only the bright pixels of the digits but also the slight shadow or halo around them. After the first pass, inspect the corner at 100-200% zoom and touch up any remnants if needed.

Important

The service removes the visible stamp from the image pixels. It does not edit the file's EXIF metadata separately. To work with the capture date in metadata, you need other tools.

Frequently asked questions

Why is zoom almost mandatory for removing a date stamp?
The stamp takes up only a few pixels in the corner. Without zoom, it is easy to under-cover the edges of the digits or, conversely, to catch extra sky or wall, and both options make the inpainting worse. Zoom of 2x to 4x plus the Corner Stamp or Orange LCD preset gives you control.
Will the date disappear from the file's EXIF metadata?
No. The service works with the image pixels, meaning the visible stamp on the frame. The capture date in EXIF is not the target of this tool; metadata requires separate utilities. If the result is not perfect on the first try, refine the mask while zoomed in and repeat with a short pass.
The stamp is on a complex background (leaves, tiles, asphalt). What should I do?
Keep the LaMa method, mask precisely along the digits, and do 1 or 2 short passes instead of one big blob. After the first pass, check the corner at 100 to 200 percent zoom and clean up the leftovers with a narrower brush.
Which image formats are supported?
PNG, JPEG, WebP, and other formats that the browser can open are accepted as input (usually BMP and GIF as well). The result is always saved as PNG to avoid re-compressing with JPEG after retouching and to preserve the edges after inpainting without extra compression artifacts.
Where is my image processed, and is it stored?
You draw the mask locally in the browser. Inpainting (the LaMa neural network or classic OpenCV) runs on the filltools.com server only to process your request. The file is not published in the gallery and is not meant to be shown to other users after the session ends; do not upload unnecessary personal data without need.
How should I draw the mask so the result is cleaner?
Cover the target completely, with a small margin along the edge (1 to 3 pixels), especially if there is a semi-transparent halo. Several precise passes are better than one huge mask. Be sure to use zoom for small details; the Hand tool (H) pans the frame, and the B and E keys switch between brush and eraser. Cover not only the bright pixels of the digits but also the light shadow or halo around the LCD stamp.
Can I undo a mistaken step?
Yes. The Undo and Redo buttons keep a history of the mask and results (roughly up to 20 steps in the current browser session). Reset Mask clears only the red marking on the canvas; Reset fully returns the tool to the state with no image loaded.
Why is a large photo downsized?
Very large images are automatically scaled (roughly to about 1600 px on the longer side) so that processing is stable and faster on the server. For web listings, social media, and most catalogs this is enough. If the maximum original size is critical, prepare a file at a sensible resolution in advance.
