Image Quality Enhancement (AI Real-ESRGAN)

Make blurry or soft phone photos sharper without changing the frame size. AI Real-ESRGAN removes JPEG noise and brings out details and edges. Up to 5 MB; side up to 6000 px (large frames are auto-fitted to GPU).

Image

Standard (recommended): AI working window up to 1500×1500. Larger photos are scaled automatically; output is the original size.

PNG, JPG or WebP · up to 5 MB · up to 6000 px · frame size preserved

Select an image to start

The file is sent to the server only for Real-ESRGAN processing and is deleted immediately after the response.

Instructions

  • Upload a PNG, JPEG, or WebP up to 5 MB (side up to 6000 px).
  • Choose the strength: Standard (recommended) or Maximum for a stronger pass.
  • Large phone photos are auto-fitted to the GPU limit; on output the size is back to the original.
  • Compare the result with the "Before / After" slider, then click "Download".
  • Processing can take several minutes. Don't close the tab.

Bring back sharpness to soft photos, without changing the size

Smartphone shots often look soft: low light, digital zoom, compression in messengers. Classic "sharpness" in an editor only boosts edges and often adds unpleasant halos. This online tool works differently: the professional neural network Real-ESRGAN analyzes the frame context, restores details and removes artifacts, then the result is returned to the original width and height. You get a cleaner, sharper image at the same size, handy for catalogs, social media, and archives.

The service is built for everyday scenarios: handheld product photos, stories, screenshots, old digital shots. No need to install apps or figure out neural network settings. Upload, compare "Before / After", save.

What exactly gets improved

  • Softness and blur from weak phone optics, autofocus, or digital zoom.
  • JPEG artifacts and blockiness after compression in WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, or re-saving.
  • Fine noise and grain in poor lighting or at high ISO.
  • Object edges and textures: contours become tighter, small details more readable.
  • Text, logos, labels on product and document photos (not an OCR replacement, but noticeably clearer).
  • Overall perceived quality: a light contrast and clarity boost after the AI pass so the result doesn't look "blurry after downscaling".

How it works under the hood (in plain terms)

  1. You upload a photo. It briefly goes to the server for processing only.
  2. Real-ESRGAN runs an internal AI pass (2× or 4×) to restore details and remove noise.
  3. The result is scaled back to your original pixel size (the same W×H).
  4. An extra clarity pass brings back edges and contrast lost during resizing.
  5. You can compare the finished PNG with a slider and download it. Temporary files on the server are deleted.

Two strength levels: pick for the task

Standard: default

The best start for most phone photos: a balance of speed and quality. The internal pass targets the 2× model (or a compatible photo profile). The AI working window is up to 1500×1500; if the frame is larger, it is auto-fitted, and on output you get the original pixels back.

Choose "Standard" when you need a quick, natural result for a catalog, stories, or a family archive.

Maximum

Stronger detail via realesrgan-x4plus and a more pronounced clarity pass. The working window is up to 800×800 (4× creates far more pixels and loads the GPU longer). Large photos are also auto-fitted; the output frame size does not change.

Choose "Maximum" if the photo still looks too soft after "Standard" and you're willing to wait longer.

Large phone photos: no manual downscaling

Modern smartphones shoot at thousands of pixels. A full 4K frame "as is" through Real-ESRGAN on a shared server would take too long. So if the frame is larger than the GPU working window, the server:

  • temporarily fits the image to a safe size for the AI;
  • enhances it with the neural network;
  • returns the result to your original width and height.

You always get the same W×H you uploaded, with no surprises in site layout or story templates.

How it differs from "Upscaling"

The site has a separate upscaler tool: it enlarges the frame 2× or 4×, so the output has more pixels (handy for print or HiDPI).

Quality enhancement does something else: it keeps the same size and focuses on sharpness, cleanliness, and perceived quality. If you need both a better look and a larger size, enhance here first, then upscale (or the other way around, depending on the task).

Who benefits most

  • Online stores and marketplaces: sharper product photos without a studio reshoot.
  • SMM and content creators: soft stories, Reels frames, phone screenshots.
  • Realtors and service businesses: tidier photos of properties and before/after work.
  • Home archives: old low-quality digital shots on modern screens.
  • Designers and layout artists: quick raster touch-ups when there's no time for full retouching.

Realistic expectations

AI restores plausible details from what's already in the frame. It won't "invent" a perfect portrait from completely smeared camera motion, and it won't replace professional retouching. The best effect is on photos with softness, noise, and JPEG compression where the basic content is still there.

  • One pass usually gives the best result; repeated enhancement often looks "plastic".
  • Strong motion blur is nearly impossible to fix: the details are already lost.
  • Compare with the "Before / After" slider before saving: it's easier to judge edges, skin texture, and small text.

Service limits

  • Formats: PNG, JPEG, WebP.
  • File size: up to 5 MB.
  • Frame side: up to 6000 px.
  • AI working window: up to 1500×1500 (Standard) / 800×800 (Maximum); larger is auto-fitted.
  • Wait time: from tens of seconds to several minutes. Don't close the tab.

Tips for a better result

  • Start with Standard; switch to "Maximum" only if you need stronger detail.
  • For products and screenshots, PNG is often better; for regular photos, JPEG / WebP.
  • Avoid heavily compressed files from messengers if you have access to the original in your gallery.
  • Don't run the same photo many times in a row: quality rarely improves linearly.

Security and privacy

The image is sent to the server only for temporary processing by Real-ESRGAN. After the result is delivered, the input and output files are permanently deleted, with no archiving or long-term storage. Don't upload documents with critical personal data if your organization's policy prohibits it; for public product and content photos, the service is designed for quick one-off processing.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from upscaling?
An upscaler enlarges the frame 2x/4x (more pixels). This service keeps the same size and makes the photo sharper: an AI pass plus a return to the original px.
What formats and limits are there?
PNG, JPEG, WebP up to 5 MB; side up to 6000 px. AI working window: Standard ≤1500, Maximum ≤800. Larger photos are auto-fitted, and the output is always the original size.
What happens with a large photo from a phone?
The server temporarily fits the frame to the GPU, enhances it with Real-ESRGAN, and returns the result in your original pixels (the same W×H).
Why is Maximum slower?
Internally, the 4x model creates more pixels and runs longer on the GPU. For most phone photos, Standard is enough.
How long does it take?
From tens of seconds to a few minutes. Don't close the tab while it's in progress.
Can any blurry photo be fixed?
No. The model restores plausible details from the available signal. Severe motion blur won't turn into a perfect portrait.
Are files stored on the server?
No. The image is processed temporarily and deleted right after the response.
